What Should I Bring to an Insurance Review?
An insurance review is a chance to ask questions about what you have, what has changed, and what you want to protect. You do not need a perfect folder of paperwork before you begin. A short list of your priorities is a useful starting point.
1. Make a list of your existing coverage
Write down the policies you know about, including coverage through work. If you have recent policy summaries, note the carrier, policy type, premium, and the questions you want answered. Ask your professional how to share documents securely before sending policy numbers or personal information.
2. Think about what has changed
Consider changes in your household, work, retirement plans, or the people who depend on you. A marriage, a new child, a move, or a change in employment may give you new questions to discuss. You can simply describe the change without deciding in advance which product you need.
3. Write down your priorities
What would you most like to understand? Your list might include the cost of coverage, how beneficiaries are listed, what happens when employment ends, or how a policy fits alongside other responsibilities. Put your most important question first.
4. Bring questions about the details
What does this policy cover, and what does it exclude?
What costs, limitations, or eligibility requirements should I understand?
What could change over time?
How would a proposed change affect the coverage I already have?
Who should I contact for future policy service or a claim?
5. Know what happens next
Your first conversation should help clarify your goals and the information needed to explore your options. Ask for an explanation of any next steps and take time to review the details. A review is a conversation; it does not require you to make an immediate decision.
